Double Five’s interesting interior

It was while looking for budget hotel accommodations in Agoda that I stumbled upon Double Five, an 18 room hostel in Thonglor area of Bangkok. What attracted me to this hostel is the interestingly designed rooms with each having a different theme. Located at a short soi and just 15 minutes walking distance to the Thong Lo BTS, its accessible and surrounded by modern restaurants and a grocery.

Much of the lobby is wood but its the faux grass as flooring, not carpeting that made it different from the rest. It’s playfulness is extended to the rooms with its different motifs and colorful themes. The current owner told me that the original owner wanted to build a massage parlor and much of the design, especially at the lobby was from that original plan. It was later that when they rented it out and decided to have a hostel that they did the design.

Double Five’s designers maximized the space that there is around 6 levels (!) for such a small space. The single rooms are a bit cramped but this didn’t stop the owners in making it bright and cozy.
